<Bonjour, la France!>

There are many art exhibitions and French artists in Korea - which no French Ambassador can complain about, to the contrary. However, few provide so many important French contemporary art name, as "Hello, La France!" Sophie Calle, Robert Combas, Bernard Frize, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Niki de Saint Phalle, ORLAN, Yves Klein, all are known in Korea, some since a long time but had never been shown together and this is where, I think, the originality of the exhibition lies. Travelling in two important art centers, the Seongnam Art Center and Goyang Cultural Foundation, I want to warmly them, for their initiative, and UNC Gallery, which took care of the logistics.

The period spanned by this exhibition is particularly important for the French art during the second half of the twentieth century. Starting in the sixties and the end of the School of Paris, which has dominated for more than thirty years the international scene, and made a way for a variety of movements, such as New Realism (Yves Klein, Niki de Saint Phalle) or Fluxus (Ben), bringing freshness to a scene where abstract painting remained the reference. Up to the current period, with artists like JR which workshop has become the world, and whose projects require each time financial packages as complex as the production of a film. "Hello, La France! " focuses on strong artistic personalities, which have set the prominent and leading creativity role French Contemporary Art is still playing, over the last forty years.



“봉주르 프랑스 친애하는 당신에게”전은 한불 수교 130주년을 기념하여 성남아트센터와 고양문화재단이 공동으로 기획하였다. 국내에서 보여주었던 부분적인 전시와 달리 프랑스 현대 미술을 대표하는 현대 작가들의 작품을 한꺼번에 볼 수 있는 전시로 프랑스 현대 미술의 지난 역사를 가늠할 수 있는 국내 최대규모의 전시가 될것이다.

그들의 작품은 미학적 가치를 통해 체험할 수 있는 시각적 향연임과 동시에 날카로운 시선을 통한 현대 사회에 대한 분석이고 도전이다. 또한 전시의 교육적인 요소들은 관람객들에게 프랑스 현대 미술의 맥락을 보다 다양한 각도에서 조명할 수 있도록 돕는 기회를 제공하고, 나아가 미술의 근본적 역할에 대해서 함께 고민해보는 토론의 장을 마련하는데 기여한다. 니키 드 생 팔을 위시한 기성 세대 작가들을 비롯해 가엘 다브랭쉬, 리오넬 사바테, 클뢰르 타부레 등 20여명의 작가들의 작품을 고루 선보일 예정인 이번 전시는 네 개의 테마: 색과 형상, 교감, 아우라, 나르시스와 골드문트-를 중심으로 구성되었으며, 단순한 지정학적 파노라마가 아닌 작품간의 만남과 교감을 통한 신선한 시선을 제시 할 것이다.
